Adventure and History at “The Castle Challenge” – June 15-16, 2024

Quattro Suites as the Gold Sponsor, Mrs. Giota Limnaiou, General Manager of Quattro Suites and the inspiration behind the event, the Municipality of Monemvasia, and the Peloponnese Region, in collaboration with Whynot, successfully organized the sports event “The Castle Challenge” on June 15-16, 2024.

Through this event, Monemvasia is highlighted not only as an excellent tourist destination but also as a landmark on the sports map of major events.

The event included two sub-sports events held in the Monemvasia area. On Saturday, June 15, swimming races were held, part of the WSL OpenWater league, with distances of 1500m and 3000m, as well as the Swim Kids 300m for ages 8-14. On Sunday, June 16, triathlon and aquathlon races followed, with the Standard and Sprint triathlon events included in the WTL – Triathlon league.

A significant part of the event’s success is due to the support of the sponsors, with Quattro Suites standing out as the gold sponsor.

Mrs. Giota Limnaiou, General Manager of Quattro Suites and the inspiration behind the event, stated: “We are proud to have supported ‘The Castle Challenge’ and contributed to showcasing Monemvasia as an ideal destination for sports events. The success of the event demonstrates the great potential of our area.”

Stefanos Vasilakos, owner of Quattro Suites, stated: “We are delighted and honored to have contributed as Gold Sponsors to The Castle Challenge 2024. Our support for this unique event reflects our commitment to promoting sports and the local community. We hope this event inspires many to adopt a more active and healthy lifestyle while highlighting the beauty and history of our area.”

“The organization of THE Castle CHALLENGE in Monemvasia was unanimously deemed highly successful, with significant participation from athletes, volunteers, and the local community. The striking images of the event, with athletes in the Castle of Monemvasia and the surrounding area, significantly contribute to the promotion of our region. From the outset, the Municipality of Monemvasia embraced the event, provided financial support, and placed Monemvasia on the map of major sports events. Congratulations are due to the local businesses, the people who envisioned and financially supported the event, such as Stefanos Vasilakos, owner of Quattro Suites,” stated Mr. Stavros Christakos, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Monemvasia.

The event would not have been possible without the invaluable help of the volunteers, who ensured the smooth running of the competitions with their passion and dedication. Over 300 athletes from various age categories participated, confirming the great interest and acceptance of the event.

“The Castle Challenge” proved that Monemvasia can create and organize highly promising competitions, offering unique sports experiences in an impressive natural and historical environment. We eagerly await the next events that will establish Monemvasia as a top destination for sports activities.

The event was held under the auspices of the Peloponnese Region, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), and the Hellenic Triathlon Federation (TOE).
